Mr. Jennings specializes in providing business and tax consulting services to financially troubled companies engaged in financial restructuring or bankruptcy proceedings. Specifically, he provides professional services in cases where individual principals are appointed as Trustee, Liquidating Agent, Responsible Person (Receiver or CRO), Plan Administrator, or Financial Advisor to the Debtor. He often assists in their efforts to recover assets of bankrupt estates, formulate reorganization or restructuring plans, negotiate creditor claims, pursue preference actions, and liquidate assets. He also works closely with Panel Trustees in Chapter 7 cases filed principally in the Middle and Northern Districts of Georgia. He is based in Atlanta, GA.
He has also assisted extensively with operating companies both in and out of bankruptcy. As part of these efforts, he provides tax consulting services to closely held businesses and their owners, and has extensive experience representing clients before the IRS Collections Division of the Office of the IRS Taxpayer Advocate.
Prior to serving in his current capacity, Mr. Jennings spent approximately twelve years in various accounting roles, working in both private industry and public accounting. Specifically, from 1994-1997, he worked with a practitioner specializing in providing tax consulting services for troubled or bankrupt companies. During this time period, he also worked with members of Finley, Colmer and Company, a firm specializing in similar types of engagements, formally joining as an affiliate in 1997. Since, 2011, he has also worked as a consultant with other restructuring firms in a similar role. He began his professional career as a junior loan underwriter for Hanover in 1985.
Mr. Jennings earned his Masters of Taxation Degree from Georgia State University in 1993 and his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Michigan State University in 1984. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Georgia (1990) and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, as well as the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
